Chinese Beef Stew Recipe

Delicious Chinese Beef Stew Recipe is made from beef and Carrots.This Chinese beef stew is an easy make-ahead recipe that requires little prep and you’ll have delicious dinners for the next couple of days.


1 ½ lbs of beef stew
1 package of Safeway stew seasoning mix
1/2 tsp of Chinese 5 spices powder
2 star aniseeds
1 tsp of onion soup mix
1/2 tsp of salt
2 cups of chopped carrot
1 small onion chopped
3 stalks of celery chopped
6 cups of water

Directions to make Chinese Beef Stew

  1. In a medium pot put 2 T of olive oil and sear the meat on both sides till golden brown
  2. Then add stew mix, 5 spices, star aniseeds onion soup mix and 6 cups of water
  3. Cook for 25 minutes then
  4. Add carrot and cook for 25 minutes
  5. Add celery and salt
  6. Cook till the carrot and meat are soft about 1 ½ hours
  7. Cook this stew till it is thicken then turn the heat off

Chinese Beef Stew usually serve hot or warm with any kind of bread like sourdough etc….
