To begin, the chicken is cut into bite-sized pieces and coated in tempura mix, providing a light and crispy texture when fried. The recipe suggests using pre-made orange sauce from stores like Costco or Safeway, streamlining the cooking process.

To prepare the chicken, the tempura batter is mixed according to the package instructions, creating a smooth and consistent coating. The chicken pieces are then deep-fried in oil until they achieve a golden brown hue. The fried chicken is set aside on paper towels to drain excess oil. In a separate non-stick stir-fry pan, ginger is thinly sliced and fried until aromatic, adding a layer of warmth and depth to the dish.

The fried chicken is then introduced to the stir-fry pan, where it’s tossed with the ginger for a brief period. The pre-made orange sauce is added to the mix, coating the chicken thoroughly and imparting a sweet and tangy flavor. Finally, sliced green onions are incorporated into the dish, and the heat is turned off, allowing the residual warmth to meld the flavors.
