Chinese Mongolian Beef Recipe

The Chinese Mongolian Beef Recipe is a highly popular and delectable dish known for its crispy texture, sweet notes, and prominent flavors of garlic and ginger. The dish begins with marinating thin slices of sirloin beef (or flank or round steak) in a mixture of corn starch, rice wine (or cherry), oyster sauce, and sesame oil. This marinade infuses the meat with a tender and flavorful base, enhancing its taste and texture.

The stir fry sauce, a crucial element of the dish, is a blend of sugar, hoisin sauce (a key ingredient for Mongolian beef), soy sauce, vinegar, sesame oil, and water. For those who enjoy a bit of heat, crushed chili can be added to create a spicy version. This sauce forms the backbone of the dish, providing the sweet, savory, and tangy notes that define Mongolian beef.

The vegetables, including sliced onion, minced ginger, sliced celery, sliced carrot, and dried roasted chili (optional), are prepared for stir frying. The process begins with heating the wok on high heat and frying minced garlic until golden brown. The marinated beef is then stir-fried until it is nearly done. It is then set aside while the vegetables are cooked in the wok with ginger, chili, garlic, and the remaining oil until tender. The beef is reintroduced along with the prepared stir fry sauce and mixed thoroughly, allowing the flavors to meld together.

The final dish is served hot with a garnish of chopped green onions. It is traditionally enjoyed with steamed rice, providing a balanced and satisfying meal. This Chinese Mongolian Beef Recipe offers a quick and easy way to create a restaurant-quality dish in the comfort of your own kitchen, showcasing the bold and flavorful elements of Chinese cuisine.
